Why Should I Start a Blog?
Do you have a blog?
No… Why Not?
I’d love to tell you that I have always practised what I preach, but the truth is I didn’t start my IM blog until 31st October 2017… at the time of writing that’s almost exactly 1 year ago.
It took me a long time to get around to doing it… and that was a big mistake, so much so, I feel like kicking myself every day for not doing it sooner.
So why should you start a blog sooner rather than later?
A blog is a simple, easy-to-use platform for connecting with and sharing relevant information with your customers (if you have customers). It’s your direct communication channel…
But don’t worry if you don’t yet have customers… you will!
Why?… Because search engines love valuable content, which in turn helps your blog grow in terms of authority… The more content you add, the more Google like it, and the more they reward you for it… Which makes it easier and easier for you to sell and promote more and more.
Look like a PRO…
You don’t have to be a professional designer. Just snap up a cool WP theme and start blogging… If you use WP (and you should), there are 1000s upon 1000s of up to the minute blogging themes ready to use. I paid for mine but there is no need to if you’re on a budget. You can find 1000’s of ready to use free themes – yes FREE.
Get Even More Customers
Did you know that 60% of businesses who blog acquire more customers, (according to a HubSpot survey). So whatever it is you do on or offline, blogging makes perfect sense.
Your Central HUB
Your blog is the heart of all of your content marketing efforts… and YES, content marketing is still important.
You can make money from little more than a good post in days on an evergreen basis… even without a list. Yes it’s true… when people ask me where they should start, I tell them, start with a blog.
Think of your blog as your HUB, a central point from which you conduct your online business. That’s what I have done for the last 12 months because I quickly realised how effective blogging is.
BLOX…
You may own and use BLOX (My system for turning your blog into daily income)? This isn’t a pitch by the way… but incorporating BLOX into my blog has helped my blog rank organically for many phrases as well as making me $1000s each month in affiliate commission.
Do you need more reasons to start blogging today?
A blog creates a place to talk about new products or services, comment on timely news topics or market trends, and build a brand. You’ll never be Coca-Cola but a brand is still important (even if you are just starting out).
Writing a blog shares your expertise, your story, even your struggle.
A blog creates a two-way conversation with customers, prospects and likeminded individuals. Sure you can do the same with social media… but you’ll never own anything if you stick to social media, they could easily decide to pull the plug on your account at any time.… However, build your own blog and you are building an asset which nobody can take away.
Blogging can be fun, energizing, stimulating, and something you look forward to doing.
Blog writing makes you think… about newsworthy topics, your industry, your customers and the world around you.
A blog keeps you focused on your content marketing strategy. Create a schedule and stick to it. Post and share, do this often enough and the magic WILL start to happen.
A blog builds confidence, relationships and sales… It doesn’t matter if you are selling your own products, reviewing and promoting other peoples as an affiliate, using the BLOX system, CPA, Adsense or any other monetisation method… blogging works.
Conclusion…
Start your blog today, regardless of what niche you operate in. Write and curate great content, share that content across your social media profiles, turn your blog posts (or parts of them) into YouTube videos (pointing back to the blog post)…
But please note: You won’t get rich overnight, blogging takes time, work and a little dedication.
But it is worth it… do everything you can to build and grow the authority of your blog. Do that and the rewards will follow…

After running in circles and spending countless thousands on Facebook Ads courses, etc, etc, I’ve come to this same conclusion, and largely due to the influence of your blog and the couple of (quality) products that I have recently purchased from you.
It’s easy to get swept away in the emotions you feel from a well-crafted VSL and led down another rabbit trail. It made sense to make the purchase at the time, but when the emotion wears off, and that strategy didn’t pan out exactly as they had promised, what do you have left? Probably not much more than some future plan to combine that strategy with another one that you purchased a few months back, someday…..
There are countless ways to make and spend money on the internet. getting customers from paid traffic is great, when it works. Of when it doesn’t, you are left with nothing. Creating a blog or a YouTube channel or some other digital “ asset” is in my opinion a much better long-term strategy. It’s like the difference between spending $1,000 running radio ads and spending $1,000 on a billboard. When those radio spots have ran, your money is gone regardless of the outcome, regardless of whether your target market is even listening that day. With the billboard however, it will be there, day or night, rain or shine, just waiting to serve you and your customers.
Thanks for the value you give here, Mark.
Sincerely
Joshua Houston
Thank you for such thorough reply Joshua…
I knew as I wrote this post that it would only resonate with a few rather than many. Reading your comment and seeing that you ‘get it’ has made writing the post in the first place worthwhile for me.
As you say there are many ways in which you can make money online… many courses and training, lots of software, etc. etc. etc. Some will work, some will not… and that’s business.
But if you have a blog, use it as a hub, and you try to link that hub to everything you do online then even the stuff you try which doesn’t work out still has a positive impact (expanding, growing, sending traffic to / through your blog)
Just got laid off my job recently due to the pandemic…
I have been seriously looking for legit ways to earn an online income. By chance I found your website and been looking through it. It is quite refreshing to see that you are not one of those unscrupulous individuals promoting bogus plans and systems promising vast wealth in a short amount of time.
As a realist I don’t believe in absurd “get rich overnight” schemes. I just need to work on something legit that will earn me at least a few or couple thousand monthly dollars. Something realistic.
After reading this post I do believe that starting my own blog would be beneficial and a good starting point toward my online income goals. I just need to find a profitable niche (or optional niches) before I start my blog..
I do have some questions I hope you will answer.
First, being that, currently, money is quite tight for me due to my (pandemic induced) circumstance, could you please give me an approximate estimate of the minimum amount of cash needed to get started? (for web page, inexpensive hosting, ads, promotion etc.)
Also, assuming I were to follow all the steps you personally took to achieve your success, (and if you could recommend a profitable niche to work on), based on your experience, how long would it approximately take for me to reach my first $1,000 month? Being that I am presently laid off, I am able to devote full time.
Many thanks. I really enjoyed and learned from this post.
Best regards,
